8 Comfy Work from Home Outfits That Don’t Feel Sloppy

Working remote is a great perk, but sometimes it can be difficult to set the stage when you work in the same place that you live.

I’ve found that the easiest thing you can do to set the tone for the day, and get into the work mindset, is to wear the right outfits.

If you roll out of bed in your pajamas and head straight to your laptop, it’s going to be a struggle to transition from sleep to work.

But if you put in the tiniest amount of effort into the outfits you wear, it will make all the difference.

You don’t need to wear a full suit and heels, but you do need to change out of that graphic tee and sweatpants.

Looking good AND being comfortable is possible!

Here are my go to outfits that feel comfortable and professional at the same time.

*Note that most of these clothing items are not new, some are several years old, so I cannot link them. However, all of them are pretty basic clothing items you can find anywhere at an affordable price.

Spring & Summer

Outfit 1: Mom jeans + loose fitting long sleeve button down

Mom jeans are probably some of the most comfortable jeans, in my opinion, and are a must in your WFH closet. They’re loose fitting so you don’t feel constricted when sitting. Pair with your favorite button down shirt that is breathable and not super tight. I personally love wearing white for the clean, minimal look it gives. Also, it looks very professional on Zoom meetings. Perfect for spring and summer!

Outfit 2: Mom jeans + loose fitting short sleeve button down

Here’s another mom jean inspired outfit that is great for working remotely. A short sleeve button down is another closet must have for your work from home attire. This one feels as comfortable as a t-shirt because it doesn’t cling to me and doesn’t feel stiff like a lot of other professional tops. It’s so important to find clothes that feel comfortable so you aren’t distracted by feeling uncomfortable. This outfit is great if you plan on going out after work.

Outfit 3: Joggers + professional basic tee

Joggers are a step up from sweatpants, but are just as comfy. A good jogger pant creates a sleek, put-together look that just feels good. Pair with a nice, fitted tee. Not all t-shirts look sloppy, you just have to find the right one. This top is made from a thicker material, so it doesn’t have that this t-shirt look, and always stays smooth.

Outfit 4: Joggers + sleeveless top

Everyone needs a comfy WFH summer fit — this is it! The black joggers pair perfectly with a black and white striped sweater tank top. The color scheme is professional but feels so comfortable. If you want to make it a little more professional for a video call, throw a black cardigan over it. This is one of my favorite outfits.

Fall & Winter

Outfit 5: Mom jeans + cozy crew neck sweater

I absolutely love this cozy fall outfit! It’s so simple, yet looks so stylish. The sweater is slightly cropped, very loose fitting, with oversized sleeves. It pairs perfectly with the baggy jeans, making it a comfy home office outfit during the colder months. Don’t forget to wear your favorite fuzzy socks or slippers with it. Perfect for wearing out of the house as well if you need to run errands after work.

Outfit 6: Mom jeans + mock neck sweater

Everyone needs a mock neck sweater. They’re super comfortable and look professional on conference calls. This sweater in particular is light gray, ribbed, and loose fitting. It’s the perfect cozy winter outfit that will make you feel productive and cozy simultaneously. It’s another closet must have.

Outfit 7: Joggers + collared sweater

This is one of the most comfortable sweaters I own because it is SO soft. The collar also makes it more work friendly. I would highly recommend replicating this work from home outfit because it’s just so comfy. I choose to wear this over any hoodie. I paired this top with black joggers, but it would also look amazing with black leggings or yoga pants.

Outfit 8: Leggings + long tunic sweater

It might not be trendy anymore, but I love pairing long, oversized, tunic sweaters with leggings. Especially if you’re working from home, no one will even notice. Even though it’s a pretty casual outfit, it feels put-together. I also think any type of black clothing makes it look more professional. This sweater looks really great on Zoom meetings.

Summary

What you wear sets the tone for the day.

If you work from home and are struggling with finding the right clothes to wear, I hope this post provides you with some inspiration.

Although the outfits are not linked, you can find most of these basic pieces anywhere.

All of these outfits are versatile. You can mix and match the tops and bottoms and can wear most of these outfits outside of the home.

When shopping, keep sustainability in mind. Make sure your clothing items have multiple uses and aren’t just something you wear once and then toss.

Several of these items I thrifted on Poshmark, or have had in my closet for a really long time.

Sustainability doesn’t always mean buy the most expensive “sustainable brands”, it also means using what you already own.

I hope these outfits help you feel more motivated, focused, and driven while working from home.
