5 Summer Hiking Outfits You’ll Feel Cute In
I’ve been growing my hiking wardrobe recently and I wanted to share some new outfits I’m excited to wear on the trails this summer.
In this post, I’ll share what I’m hiking in this summer, why I think they’re essential clothing items, and what accessories you should be bringing along with you.
I hope this post inspires you to get outside more and have fun with your outfits.
Outfit #1
Top Layer: Lululemon’s Align tank
Pants: Biker Shorts with Pockets
Accessories: Hoka Trail Runners + Patagonia Mini Hip Pack
Why this outfit is a hiking essential: I love this outfit because it’s perfect for staying cool and looking cool out on the trails. The align tank top is one of my favorites because it has a built in sports bra so you can feel supported and not have to wear additional layers underneath. Biking shorts with pockets are a must for me, especially while hiking. They provide easy access to your phone, keys, and snacks without having to go into your backpack. For shoes, trail runners have been a game changer for me. I used to only wear hiking boots, which have their strength, but sometimes a bulky boot isn’t necessary. I now prefer my Hoka’s for short, non-technical hikes. And lastly, I’ve become obsessed with my mini Patagonia cross body bag when I go on easy, short hikes. It’s tiny, but is big enough to carry the essentials like keys, wallets, and other small items I want to have on me.
Outfit #2
Top Layer: Women's Long-Sleeved Capilene Cool Merino Blend Graphic Shirt
Pants: Mondetta Shorts
Accessories: Teva Sandals + Hydro Flask Sling
Why this outfit is a hiking essential: On hot, sunny days, wearing protective clothing has completely changed my hiking experience. If I know I’m going to be hiking in the sun, with little shade on the trail, then I’m going to be wearing a wicking long sleeve shirt to prevent excessive sun exposure. This Patagonia long sleeve top keeps my core cool, is breathable, and drys quickly on hot sunny days. I highly recommend you have at least one long sleeve hiking shirt you can wear in the summer, it’s a complete game changer. I’ve also recently added a water bottle sling to my bin of hiking accessories. It’s great for short hikes where you only need one water bottle, but don’t want to carry it the whole time and would to prefer to keep your hands free.
Outfit #3
Top Layer: Lululemon tank top
Pants: Patagonia Barely Baggies (in Potters Red)
Accessories: Hat + Sketchers Sandals
Why this outfit is a hiking essential: This is one of my favorite hiking outfits of all time. The Lululemon tank top is super supportive with a built in bra and looks super flattering. And it pairs super well with my favorite Patagonia shorts. These shorts are perfect for hiking in the summer time because they are lightweight, durable, and quick drying. Hot take, but I actually really love my Sketchers because they provide a lot of cushion on my feet and have traction. Even though they aren’t that trendy, I think they compliment this outfit really well. Don’t forget to pair this outfit with your favorite hat!
Outfit #4
Top Layer: Beyond Yoga Slim Racerback Cropped Tank
Pants: Beyond Yoga Pocket High-Waisted Midi Legging
Accessories: Teva Sandals + Hydro Flask Water Bottle
Why this outfit is a hiking essential: Beyond Yoga has some of the best sets, in my opinion, and this one is at the top. I love the earth tone red, a color that looks really good when you’re out in nature. The material is soft and breathable. It pairs nicely with a pair of Teva sandals, some of the best hiking sandals on the market. The Teva Hurricane model is great because it’s made with durable material that’s meant for the outdoors and has great traction. Always bring water with you on the trail, no matter what. A Hydro Flask water bottle is an excellent choice because holds 32 oz of water, keeps it cold, and has a handle which makes it really easy to carry. They have so many fun colors you can choose from online.
Outfit #5
Top Layer: Ribbed Workout Crop Top
Pants: Hiking Cargo Pants
Accessories: Merrell Hiking Boots
Why this outfit is a hiking essential: This is another great hiking outfit that is both functional and fashionable. The cropped tank provides support and style, while the cargo pants provide protection from the natural elements. I love the pants because they are lightweight, breathable, and have lots of pockets for storage. For hiking boots, my shoe of choice has always been Merrell. They make great hiking boots that last a long time and can handle the wear and tear you’ll get as a regular hiker. Make sure you get the waterproof version that will keep your feet dry if you’re hiking through puddles, river crossings, or if it rains.
